I use HP Pavilion dv6000. Is it okay to leave the battery on when my notebook is plugged on AC power?

I always plug my notebook on AC and remove the battery when I’m using it at home. I rarely run my notebook using battery power. Now I’m wondering if it is okay to leave the battery plugged in for long hours (8+ hours) even if it is fully charged?
